Published: February 24, 2026

What's New

  • Updated: February 24, 2026
  • Applies to: May 2026 exam and beyond
  • New Structure: Six competency areas aligned with the latest blueprint

Platform Update Complete

We're excited to announce that passMCQ has been successfully updated to align with the new Pharmacist Qualifying Examination blueprint approved for implementation with the May 2026 exam sitting.

The updated blueprint is based on the Professional Competencies for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians at Entry to Practice in Canada, which was updated in late 2024 by the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA).

New Six Competency Areas

Our platform now reflects the new exam structure, which includes five competency domains with the first domain divided into two parts, creating a total of six competency areas. These areas represent the professional knowledge, skills, abilities, attitudes, and judgments required for safe and ethical practice by entry-level pharmacists.

Updated Question Distribution

Our question bank has been reorganized to match the new competency areas, ensuring that your practice aligns with the actual examination content distribution. This means you'll be practicing with the same focus areas that will appear on your exam.

What This Means for Your Preparation

The core exam format remains unchanged:

  • Part I (MCQ): Multiple-choice questions testing competencies across all six areas
  • Part II (OSCE): Practice-based scenarios that simulate real-world practice
  • Total Questions & Duration: No changes to the number of questions or exam length

What has changed is how the content is organized and distributed across the competency areas. Our platform now provides an approximate percentage of overall exam content for each of the six competency areas, helping you understand where to focus your study efforts.

For May 2026 and Future Candidates

If you're preparing for the May 2026 exam or any future exam sitting, you can now study with confidence knowing that our platform is fully aligned with the latest blueprint. All practice questions, study materials, and exam simulations reflect the current competency structure.
